A concrete driveway is one of the most used surfaces on a property, so it needs to be built with proper preparation and long-term durability in mind. At Armored Concrete Services Ltd., we construct new driveways, replacement driveways, and driveway extensions with attention to grading, base preparation, reinforcement, placement, and finishing.
From standard broom finish to exposed aggregate and decorative concrete options, we build driveways designed to improve curb appeal, support daily vehicle traffic, and stand up to Alberta’s weather conditions.

Concrete can be walked on within 48 hours of pour and driven on after 7 days of concrete pour.

Our Process
Demolition
Jackhammer and remove concrete and unsuitable base. Ensure there are no soft spots under driveway.
Rebar
10mm rebar is installed spaced at 400mm on centre grid spacing. Rebar chairs are used to maintain rebar placement in centre of slab.
Formwork is installed using 2×4 or 2×6. Curves or radiuses are optional depending on client preferences.

Install a 4-6” thick ¾ minus “ road crush” and compact material at ideal moisture percentage until it reaches 95% of proctor or as per specific engineer requirements.
Gravel base
32 MPA “Duramix” Concrete with 5-8% air entrainment is placed at 4.5” thick for maximum strength and durability. Our crew diligently places and finishes concrete.

Saw-cuts are put in ¼ of the thickness of the slab and no larger than 10’x10’ sections to control cracking. It is at this time our crew will do our final cleanup of surrounding landscaping and cleaning up all debris.
